It's All About Timing

The wedding story of Gabe Redondo and Utah Jazz dancer Bobbi Jo Blaser

Beautiful, spiritual and perfect. Three simple but powerful words describing the day Bobbi Jo Blaser and Gabe Barcello Redondo would join each other for eternity. They would accept the first available time in June, whatever the day, at the Salt Lake Temple to marry — proving to be the perfect time after all.

Surrounded by family and friends, Bobbi Jo and Gabe celebrated their marriage during an evening garden reception on this late day in June. Colors of bright mango, periwinkle, lemon, lime and coral decorated the elegant backyard gathering matching the Bountiful, Utah sky at sunset.

Golf carts carried guests to the reception where they enjoyed the chocolate fountain and live band playing in the background. Bobbi Jo and Gabe greeted their long time friends and family acquaintances with enthusiasm and smiles. “He just couldn’t stop smiling,” says Bobbi Jo as she described Gabe as the happiest man she had ever beheld. Gabe’s smiles were a direct result from the “tiny angel with golden hair” that had stolen his heart just months before.

The Meeting

It was all about timing again. Not just any time, but the right time for Bobbi Jo and Gabe to meet. Although they had casually met each other during a vacation to Lake Powell years prior, it was the second meeting that made the timing perfect.

Last year when Bobbi Jo returned home to dance professionally for the NBA Utah Jazz basketball team, a friend of hers wanted to be set up with a co Jazz dancer. Bobbi Jo committed to lining the two friends up if she also could be lined up with one of his friends to form a double date.

When the evening came, his roommate filled in last minute. This roommate ended up being no other than Gabe, the acquaintance from the past and current business student at the University of Utah. That first blind date led the two down the dating path, a trail that ended with rose petals lining the walkway.

The Engagement

Following the rose petals, Bobbi Jo could hear Gabe’s incredible voice singing a song just for her. “Everything I do, I do it for you,” were the words sung from his heart. Then on bended knee, he asked, “Bobbi Jo, will you marry me?” A complete loss of breath caused Bobbi Jo a silent moment before she could accept his proposal. Completely shaking from the excitement, they embraced.

The Wedding

Only two and a half months later on June 24th, Bobbi Jo and Gabe committed their lives together for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. Tears filled Bobbi Jo’s eyes as they celebrated this special moment with close family from both sides. She knew Gabe loved the Lord and would love her for eternity.

Bobbi Jo and Gabe’s wedding day continued into the evening. And just as their day of events and celebrations came to a close, timing became important again. The unpredictable June weather turned windy with an approaching storm. But with time on their side, they had already left the garden reception just missing the storm. Later Bobbi Jo and Gabe enjoyed a honeymoon in the Cayman Islands.

“I wouldn’t change a thing,” says Bobbi Jo. “Every dream I had about my wedding day came true.” For Bobbi Jo and Gabe, perfect timing is endless.
