Why a Wedding Video
Let's look into the future 50 years. Your grandchildren are over for dinner asking how you fell in love and what happened at the wedding. Now imagine playing your wedding video for them. Seeing the hugs, the tears of joy and the temple will truly show your posterity your feelings of eternal marriage. “I think our children will appreciate our wedding video more so than we can imagine," says Kris Nielson (Manti Temple, 2003).
Wedding videography has become a priceless addition to any wedding. It’s not surprising many couples consider a wedding video just as important as the wedding pictures. "The wedding video was our favorite part of the entire wedding. It captured all the emotions and excitement and we can relive it any time we want,” says Preston Beckstrand (Salt Lake Temple, 2004).
On your wedding day, so much happens so fast you might miss the details. A professional video helps you relive the day and also recall how you felt. You can even send copies to relatives and close friends who were unable to attend your wedding. But beyond all this, a wedding video has the power to strengthen families. It can remind you of your temple covenants, teach your children the importance of temple marriage and preserve memories of loved ones since passed. One bride married in the Idaho Falls Temple hired a videographer (David Perry Films) who was able to capture her grandfather’s last words of advice. He passed away unexpectedly only days following the wedding.
Scott and Jill Taft (Salt Lake Temple, 2000) can also express the importance of their wedding video. "We have been married for several years now and whenever we have a misunderstanding, I will hear our wedding video playing in the other room,” says Scott. “I will sit down with Jill and watch it with her. Our hearts are both softened and we find ourselves apologizing to each other because we remember the importance of the covenants we made in the temple. We remember the reasons why we were married for time and all eternity.”
Wedding videos are important to the videographer too. David Perry a professional videographer says, “There is a saying that a man is measured by what he leaves behind in life, not what he takes. This is the reason why I have chosen to create wedding videos. The reward of knowing I have captured the most important event in someone's life in a way that will help relive that moment for them and for their future children is so fulfilling. I have the privilege of being a part of every wedding I film — for the rest of their lives and their children’s and grandchildren’s lives.”
In the end, when your special day has come to a close, a professional wedding video will always be there to help you remember the day that started eternity.
Things to consider in choosing a professional videographer:
- Do you like their work? It doesn’t matter how much you save if you don’t LOVE your video. Be sure to watch demos from several videographers before making your decision. Also, for temple weddings it is important to have a videographer who understands the temple experience.
- Do you like them? Having a videographer that makes you and others feel comfortable not only creates better video shots, but helps you to relax and enjoy your experience. Ask yourself: Is your videographer excited about your day or is it just another wedding?
- Do they work well with other professionals? It doesn’t matter how good your videographer is if your photographer, for example, monopolizes your day. Be sure and inform your photographer and other professionals that you are having a videographer at the wedding and let them know how important the video is to you.
95% of those who used a professional videographer think future brides should consider using a professional videographer.
